In the region around Ratschings all year round varied and exciting events take place. From summer music festivals up to the Christmas market in winter, everyone will find his favorite event and can plan holidays specifically. So the Christmas time is ideal to visit one of the traditional markets in the region. Specifically, Brixen, Sterzing and Klausen are known as the most beautiful. Stroll through the snowy roads, you can enjoy a hot drink and marvel at the ornate carvings and colorful decorated houses and roads.

In September or October the cattle driving is celebrated in the Eisack valley. The festival of farmers, shepherds and dairymen is a great event, celebrating the safe return of the cattle from the pasture to the barn. This event is celebrated by the residents of the villages and towns with a big party, where local delicacies are served. At the same time this festival is an occasion to celebrate the beginning of autumn.

In winter, the highlight of your vacation is a romantic carriage ride, which takes you through the beautiful white winter landscape of Ratschings valley. Active vacationers also will appreciate the modern facilities of the nearby ski driveway as well as the variety of slopes. Alternatively you can visit one of the festivals of the region, such as the annual Dumpling Festival or festivities for the cattle driving down from the mountain.
The Dumpling Festival
in Sterzing
Every 2nd Sunday of September the dumpling festival “Knödelfest” takes place in Sterzing. The dumplings are a traditional dish, which is popular both among guests and locals. As part of the celebration a more than 300-meter-long row of tables is set up, which goes from the Old to the New Town. Here innkeepers of the region serve more than 30 different kinds of dumplings. Taste for example, the traditional bacon dumplings or a delicious asparagus dumplings. The right atmosphere is ensured by musical entertainment during the feast.
